BASC is the largest field sports organisation in the UK, serving the interests of more than 130,000 members within the shooting community. It aims to foster safe practice and high standards of sportsmanship and to promote game and wildlife conservation.
This is a full-time position reporting to the director of business management. The nature of the organisation adds a complexity to the role as there are various statutory regulations and procedures that apply.
The responsibilities of the financial controller will include:
Providing the day- to- day management of the accounts function
Preparing monthly management and year end financial reports
Being responsible for the financial integrity and overview of all transactions within a £9 million turnover organisation
A good communicator with excellent people management and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
ACCA/CIMA/ACA qualification coupled with relevant experience
Proven management skills in an accounting environment
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise
Ability to implement, monitor and control procedures effectively
Strong IT skills including a good understanding of databases
Current working knowledge and understanding of accounting and reporting standards as well as taxation, most particularly VAT and pay-roll taxes.
