What are NVQs?
NVQs are competence based qualifications that are judged on performance evidence as well as knowledge and understanding. Evidence is built up by producing a portfolio of what you do at work.
Eligibility:
Anyone who is:
-
Between the age of 16-24, and
-
Working for at least 16 hours/week, and
-
Not a degree holder
Suitability
This NVQ is ideal for employees who would like to enter into a management role and need to demonstrate leadership qualities, particularly within a team context. For those already in Management roles and accomplished team leaders functioning at a higher level, we offer a level 3 Management NVQ.
Course Content
There are a broad range of units to choose from which allows both employees and employers to choose units that focus on the areas of team leading that are most relevant to their role, industry or organisation. Units include
- Developing yourself as a team leader
- Leading, briefing and motivating your work team
- Planning and monitoring work
- Induction and coaching in the workplace
- Fulfilling customer requirements
- Providing quality to customers
- Using information to solve problems
- Dealing with change in the workplace
- Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment
- Diversity in the workplace

It is designed to help your employees develop the skills and attitudes they need to perform effectively as team leaders. It gives practising and aspiring team leaders a solid foundation on which to develop their leadership skills, helping them motivate their team members and achieve agreed targets.
