Job Purpose

To lead the company's financial accounting, reporting and control activities accross the group of companies and to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

•  Develop systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances.
•  Using a financial control framework, including financial accountabilities and authorities to ensure full financial control.
•  To develop and control a centralised accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.
•  Act as the main point of contact to external auditors and provide all required information.
•  Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards and that group policies are followed.
•  Recommend changes that will improve the company's financial performance and financial controls.
•  Draft statutory accounts for the group of companies.


Skills / Attributes Required

•  Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
•  Previous experience in a similar position, including experience of providing Financial Control across a group of companies.
•  Sound and up to date knowledge of UKGAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
•  Experience of managing staff within the Accounts department.
•  Excellent Excel modelling skills.


Salary
£45,000 to £50,000 plus Pension and 25 days holiday

Financial Controller Job Description

Role

Based in our  office, the Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and corporate reporting requirements for our UK and fledgling European operations, while also providing organisational and administrative leadership for all financial operations. These responsibilities include implementation of accounting policy, internal and external financial reporting, financial analysis and internal controls and procedures. Managing a team of 8, the Financial Controller will work closely with representatives across all functions of the business. The role has a solid functional reporting line into the Group Finance Director and a strong operational line into the Operations Director.


Responsibilities

Lead and participate in all financial operations of the company including reporting, forecasting, invoicing and cash management, accounts payable/receivable and payroll
Lead and participate in the monthly accounting close ensuring timeliness, accuracy, completeness and compliance with corporate policy
Consolidation of the monthly results world-wide
Tax compliance including income tax, VAT and corporation tax
Management and development of a team of 8 reports in UK
Preparation of forecasts of future performance of the business
Preparation of annual budgets
Overall management of the contracts management tool used for sales order processing and revenue and invoice management and forecasting
Support the implementation of new processes and controls and the implementation of new systems

Qualifications

Qualified Accountant with at least 5 years PQE, preferably in the software or IT services sector

Experience

Contract accounting experience within an international organisation
Experience in preparing reports and analysis on the performance of the business
Strong team leader skills including running a team in a dynamic environment
Involvement in the implementation of processing and control systems in a time pressured environment
Experience in the application of internal control procedures and frameworks
UK operational experience is essential - any experience of Continental European operations would be an advantage but is not essential

Skills

Proven team player with leadership skills including the ability to coach and energise others
Interpersonal skills sufficient to support, advise and influence managers from different parts of the business whilst providing strong financial control where necessary
Strong IT literacy, Microsoft Excel in particular
Knowledge of Sun Accounts and/or SAP
Critical thinking and good analytical skills
Hands-on approach and proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
